Show Menopause Whos Boss

Women looking for ways to cope with the troublesome symptoms of menopause can attend the free community program, “Show Menopause Who’s Boss.” Chris Danz, APNP, of Women’s Care of Wisconsin, will discuss ways to cope with the fatigue, anxiety, hot flashes, sleep disturbances, night sweats and mood swings that menopause can bring. Chris will also discuss how women can get fluctuating hormones under control and take charge of their bodies again.

ThedaCare Announces Construction of Neenah Clinic

ThedaCare announced plans for a newly constructed clinic in Neenah to replace its two family practice locations on S. Commercial Street and Tullar Road in Neenah and the endocrine and internal medicine clinics currently located in the office buildings at Theda Clark Medical Center. The newly consolidated clinic’s future location is not yet confirmed, although officials said they are focused on property that is easily accessible from Hwy. 41. Construction is slated to begin this spring and should take 10 to 12 months.

Their candid and heartfelt presentation takes audiences on a journey of their pain, anger and frustration, leading them full circle to acceptance and healing.

Perimenopause is the stage in a woman’s life when the ovaries gradually begin to make less estrogen, lasting through menopause. The perimenopausal transition usually starts in a woman’s 40s but can start in her 30s or earlier.

Remembering George

Endings often times remind us of our beginnings. Sometimes we never know the value of our minutes until they become our memories. On November 20, many current and former ThedaStar crew members, gathered to attend the funeral of George Miller (one of the first pilots), who died on November 15, 2014, from debilitating pulmonary fibrosis secondary to Agent Orange exposure in the Vietnam War.

Dont Pass on the Opportunity to Learn About Kidney Stones

In 2009 there were about 1.3 million (3,600 per day) emergency room visits for kidney stones in the US. About 1 in 11 people will experience a kidney stone sometime in their life. Stones tend to be more common in men, Caucasians, and obese people but can occur in anyone.

Does My Child Have a Sinus Infection

Nasal drainage can be seen with colds, sinus infections or foreign bodies. The fact that the drainage is only out of one side, and that it has an odor may mean that there is a foreign body in her nostril.

Learn More About the Many Roles of a Midwife

ThedaCare is hosting the free community program, “Midwifery 101.” Attendees will learn about the different roles a midwife can play, from pregnancy support to primary care, in treating women throughout every stage in life. Becky Kahler, Kay Weina and Jenny Goss, Certified Nurse Midwives, from Women’s Care of Wisconsin, will lead this information-filled session on Tues., April 7.

Boardwalk Planned for Navarino

The Navarino Nature Center will install a boardwalk that will go from the nature center and over a near-by pond, thanks to the local fundraising efforts. The project, estimated at $214,000, will allow visitors to enjoy the area surrounding the nature center. ThedaCare, through the Shawano Community Health Action Team, donated $500 recently toward the project.

Theda Clark Foundation Contributes 2 Million in Support of Regional Cancer Center

Theda Clark Medical Center Foundation has donated $2 million to help bring a new regional cancer center to the Appleton area. The contribution, made through the ThedaCare Family of Foundations Connect campaign, is a significant boost to ThedaCare’s commitment to provide patients and families with cancer care that respects their choices.

Armed with nothing but their sharp wit, comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood will take the stage at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center on Fri., March 6, to raise funds for the ThedaCare Family of Foundations.

It’s time to register for the 5th Annual Sturgeon Shuffle! The event on Sat., April 25, is a 5-mile road run and 2 – mile run/walk for athletes of all ages and abilities.
