The ThedaCare Board of Trustees this week approved a long-term exploration of facilities throughout the ThedaCare nine-county service area, and their ability to meet the communities’ expectations for outstanding health care into the future. Digestive problems can plague many people but what sets it apart as IBS is that belly pain and diarrhea or constipation comes back again and again. IBS affects 10 to 15 percent of people in North America and mostly women.
Ear wax build up can be bothersome but be careful when treating it. Glands in the ear canal produce war wax, which traps dust and other small particles, preventing them from reaching, and potentially damaging or infecting, the ear drum. It will dry up and fall out of the ear.
The newly renovated ThedaCare Physicians Doll Hospital at The Building for Kids Children’s Museum (BFKCM) will be ready for little doctors and nurses on Wednesday, February 24. The exhibit is designed like an exam room at a pediatrician’s office and includes scales, stethoscopes and scrubs for kids to use as they give dolls check-ups.

Many residents are tired of winter and are looking for a reason to head to the gym or use that exercise equipment you have in your home. It is time to lace up those walking and running shoes and train to participate in the 15th annual ThedaCare Helping Hands for Cancer 5K run/Walk on Sat., May 21.

February is National Heart Month. While cancer is the leading cause of death in people less than 85 years old, heart disease is the leading cause of death overall. Different ailments can affect the heart but the most common is coronary artery disease (CAD).

ThedaCare, the largest healthcare system in Northeast Wisconsin, is investing $3 million in Mequon-based Smart Choice MRI, the first MRI provider in the country to offer every MRI for an all-inclusive fee of $600 or less. ThedaCare is a community-based health system that reinvests in the communities it serves. ThedaCare sees potential for consumers in Smart Choice MRI while the new partnership creates an opportunity for both companies to learn from each other and use their knowledge and expertise to bring additional value to patients.

ThedaCare has named Courtney Weiland the new vice president of philanthropy. She oversees the ThedaCare Family of Foundations and volunteer services at Appleton Medical Center and Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.
ThedaCare welcomes Kary Cappaert, APNP, a nurse practitioner specializing in family medicine who will see patients at ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano.
