The ThedaCare Foundation -Sturgeon Shuffle is a competitive 10K and 5K run/walk for all athletes, whether you are a serious racer or simply want to “go the distance”. The course will run along County X west of New London paralleling the beautiful Wolf River. The return portion of the course will take the runners/walkers along the Sturgeon Trail (a paved trail) during the time of the year that historically sees the unique “running” of the Sturgeon.
Thousands of dollars’ worth of furniture and building materials from the vacant Shawano Medical Center are being repurposed in the community, said John Gijsen, director of facilities management system locations for ThedaCare. Demolition of the old riverside hospital began on April 4, prior to which Gijsen contacted several Shawano-area governmental units and charities to invite them to remove and re-use furniture and fixtures.
This month ThedaCare marks the 15th anniversary of Cherry Meadows inpatient hospice. The only freestanding general inpatient care hospice in northeast Wisconsin, Cherry Meadows is located inside Peabody Manor in south Appleton and features 10 private rooms, 24-hour hospice trained staffing, and unlimited visiting hours.
With baseball and softball season right around the corner, players’ shoulder muscles are going to see a lot of use. Unfortunately, it’s also prime time for shoulder injuries. Rotator cuff injuries are one of the most common shoulder ailments and usually happen in athletes who use repetitive arm motions, such as baseball and softball pitchers and tennis players.
The 30th Annual Fun Run, co-sponsored by ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca and Health and Fitness Headquarters, evokes several memories throughout the community. The event, celebrating its 30th year, will be Sat., May 7 at the Old Riverside School.
ThedaCare recently changed the names of both of its Fox Cities hospitals – ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton (formerly Appleton Medical Center) and ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah (formerly Theda Clark Medical Center. ThedaCare employees will offer activities, advice, and encouragement to promote healthy habits for students and their families during the second annual Good to Go initiative held April 25-29. More than 300 ThedaCare employees will span out to six Northeast Wisconsin elementary and intermediate schools to engage young people with special activities that may include leading a gym class, mindfulness practice, healthy snack options, playground games, and more.

Tina Marchan, administrator at Juliette Manor in Berlin, is excited about the new 37-bed facility that will be replacing the present Juliette Manor that has been in the downtown Berlin location since 1964. The current Juliette Manor was the original Berlin Hospital built in 1935.
