ThedaCare Foundation-New London Aims for $560,000
With the support of many the TogethER campaign to expand and renovate the Emergency Department at ThedaCare Medical Center-New London is almost complete. A matching program could push the momentum forward and bring a ground breaking this summer.
“We are very excited to announce a $40,000 match program that will go until the end of May,” said Heather Stern, executive director of ThedaCare Foundation-New London. Currently, the campaign has raised $490,000, or 88 percent of its goal.
“We are so proud of our local communities and all the donors who have stepped up and generously supported this campaign,” said Stern. “We are so close to the goal and this fantastic opportunity to have your donation matched is a great reason to make a donation that will have a life-changing impact on so many. It’s amazing what people can do when they band ‘together’ for a great cause.”
The Foundation launched the TogethER Campaign at the end of 2014. Stern said the current ER, which is the only 24/7 emergency facility in the area, has not been updated in more than 20 years. More than 9,000 patients a year come through the ER doors. Healthcare is changing and the need for emergency care in our area is growing, she said. “We are honored to be here to serve those who need us; it is our mission to ensure we offer the best possible healthcare experience,” said Stern.
The project will improve the safety, privacy, comfort and accessibility in the ER. It will include a larger, more comfortable waiting area; new registration and triage rooms for privacy and immediate treatment; a family counseling room for loved ones dealing with a traumatic situation; accessible public restrooms; and improvement to the overall patient flow and accessibility. “These changes will create a more welcoming environment where you and your loved ones receive the best possible care at a stressful time in your life,” said Stern.
Stern said the project is coming together thanks to the support of many amazing individuals in the local communities the New London hospital serves. “Each gift has been extremely important to making this plan a reality,” she said, adding that the Foundation is hopeful others will see the importance of this project and help it reach the goal. “Each gift will help us create a more patient-focused ER that provides the best possible experience for many years to come.” To learn how to make a gift, contact ThedaCare Foundation- New London at 920.531.2066 or go online to www.thedacare.org/NLtogethER.
