Powerful Tools for Caregivers

Powerful Tools for Caregiving classes each build on the other with the focus on the caregiver and the importance of taking care of their own needs and well-being and maintaining meaningful relationships and activities.

A class for caregivers helps them understand the importance of taking care of themselves as they face the task of caring for the health and well-being of a loved one. Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an educational program to help caregivers, whether they are taking care of a parent, spouse, child or friend, learn how to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, better communicate feelings, increase their ability to make tough decisions and locate helpful resources. Classes meet from 5:30 to 7p.m.for six consecutive Wednesdays starting April 27.

All THRIVES-sponsored classes are held in the Maasch Education Center in the 902 Building located on the ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca campus. Class size is limited and at least eight participants are needed. Pre-registration is required. To register, call (715) 258-1119 or visit the ThedaCare website at www.thedacare.org.

The THRIVES coalition is a group of agencies working together to offer educational and supportive workshops to help all members of the community. Classes are offered in the fall and spring.

For more information on the THRIVES workshops, contact the ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca Health and Wellness Department at (715) 258-1183 or Waupaca Senior Center at (715) 258-4437.
