The holiday season is often a smorgasbord of tasty delights that can tempt any diet. A new ThedaCare class aims to help people still enjoy the holidays with some healthy recipes.
“Cooking Light for the Holidays” will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thurs., Nov. 14 at the FACE Room at Waupaca Middle School.
The hands-on class will include a short introduction on how to plan a healthy diet. Participants will also get a chance to prepare dishes and taste them. “Most people who come in for diet education are looking for healthy recipes or, specifically, ‘what can I make that is healthy?,’” said Anne K. Menzies, registered dietitian, ThedaCare Physicians-Waupaca, Diabetic Education Department.
The recipes can be used for the holidays to make this hectic time less stressful when it comes to your diet, she said. “So we are giving folks an opportunity to come and learn how to make some healthy recipes that you can use not only anytime during the week, but a few special dishes for the holidays,” said Menzies.
The class fee is $5 and the class size is limited to 24 participants. To register, call 715-258-1119 or register online at www.thedacare.org.
