OSHKOSH, Wis. – Construction work is progressing at the new ThedaCare health campus in Oshkosh. Recruitment efforts for dedicated team members are also underway as the health system prepares to care for the Oshkosh community.
The campus, known as ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh, aims to expand convenient access to care for those living in northeast and central Wisconsin. ThedaCare broke ground on the hospital in March 2024.
ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh is located at 250 W. 6th Avenue on the Fox River in downtown Oshkosh, and complements the area’s major redevelopment and revitalization efforts. Nearly 73% of Oshkosh’s residents live east of Interstate 41, while most of the current health care services are located west of I-41, meaning east-side residents are more than 15 minutes away from a hospital or emergency room.
“This campus will give our organization an opportunity to offer convenient care to more people in our communities, closer to where they live and work,” said Robert Cavagnol, MD, MHA, FACS, North Region President, Froedtert ThedaCare Health. “We look forward to the continued construction and progress taking place at ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh.”
Since the groundbreaking of the health campus in March 2024, construction partners including Hplex Solutions as the owner representative; HGA as the architect and engineer; Miron Construction Co., Inc. as the construction manager; and the Sigma Group as the civil engineer and landscape architect, have been actively working at the site.
Significant progress has been made at the health campus. Some of the major construction milestones include:
- Completion of the roof work
- Near completion of the exterior masonry work
- Installation of window frames around the building. Exterior glass installation is expected to be complete in late spring/early summer.
- Progress on the mechanical heating and cooling system installation
- Continued work on interior wall framing and drywall
Recruiting for the Future

Enhancing Access to Care
The modern hospital is designed to provide comprehensive care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Emergency and inpatient care will be offered.
When complete, ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh is projected to be approximately
114,000 sq. ft., with an estimated $84M investment. The hospital is expected to have emergency care, inpatient beds and 24/7 coverage. Hospital plans also call for 24/7 Computed Tomography scans, x-ray and ultrasound, in addition to mammogram, MRI and lab services.
Also included in plans are a retail pharmacy, ambulatory surgery center with operating rooms and a medical office building for primary care and specialties.
To adapt to the changing needs of the community, ThedaCare updated plans for the health campus and added a 28,000-square-foot third floor to the original design. More services may be added over time based on community need.
“ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh will allow our organization to continue improving the health of those living in the area,” said Jenny Nikolai, MBA, PMP, FACHE, Vice President of ThedaCare Medical Centers-Fond du Lac and Oshkosh. “We’re looking forward to continuing care for the people of Oshkosh to provide the level of expertise they deserve.”
