ThedaCare is one of a select group of companies to earn the designation of “Green Professional,” in the 2014 Green Masters Program established by the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council. As a Green Professional, ThedaCare has demonstrated continued commitment to sustainability in the business sector.

“ThedaCare has become a Wisconsin leader in sustainability,” says Tom Eggert, Executive Director of the WI Sustainable Business Council. “It is truly encouraging to see this type of leadership in the health care industry.  For the second year in a row, we are excited to recognize ThedaCare’s continued commitment to sustainability.”

“ThedaCare is pleased to be recognized by the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council,” said Paul Linzmeyer, Corporate Sustainability Manager, ThedaCare. “We are excited to join the community of Green Masters participants and share with other companies the learning that drives sustainability strategies.”

ThedaCare created the position of Sustainability Leader to coordinate sustainability efforts in their five hospitals, one long term care facility and 30 clinics and other facilities. The company is taking an active position on the role climate change plays in human health. Furthermore, ThedaCare has made a significant investment in healthy local food options for their hospitals by committing to five hoop houses at Riverview Gardens as well as other local food initiatives.

Linzmeyer went on to state, “Our Senior Leadership team is committed to our sustainability initiative as a means to achieve our mission of building healthy communities by reducing or eliminating our energy waste and water footprint.”

ThedaCare is a community health system consisting of five hospitals: Appleton Medical Center, Theda Clark Medical Center, New London Family Medical Center, Shawano Medical Center, and Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. ThedaCare also includes ThedaCare Physicians, ThedaCare Behavioral Health, ThedaCare At Work, and ThedaCare at Home.
