Partnership will introduce new health plan options in Wisconsin
NORTHEAST WISCONSIN — Bellin Health and ThedaCare are working with Minnesota-based HealthPartners to offer new health plan products. This partnership will give companies in Wisconsin more options when choosing a health plan for their employees.
The new product offerings will be marketed as Robin with HealthPartners. The first products offered are for large employers. (Those with more than 50 employees.). Network options include Bellin Health and ThedaCare hospitals and clinics, and many other independent providers. Coverage is available starting in early 2018.
“This collaboration improves health insurance offerings for consumers. It also gives us the ability to drive cost and quality initiatives, which ultimately benefits patients,” said George Kerwin, president and CEO of Bellin Health, based in Green Bay. “HealthPartners is recognized for outstanding member satisfaction. It is one of the primary reasons why we sought them out as a health insurance partner.”
The three non-profit organizations also have a common mission of helping people live healthier lives through access to high-quality and affordable care. Both ThedaCare and Bellin selected a Robin with HealthPartners plan for their own employees.
“Our shared goal to improve the health and well-being of our communities is a solid foundation on which to build this collaboration,” said Imran Andrabi, MD, president and CEO of ThedaCare, which is based in Appleton. “This is an opportunity to extend access to safe, expert local care while managing costs over time.”
Bellin and ThedaCare have a successful history of working together. In 2008, they teamed up to form an accountable care organization (ACO). Soon after, it was selected for the Pioneer ACO Program, run by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Only 32 ACO programs were selected to participate. In three years, the partnership created $14 million in savings for the federal government. It was the undisputed leader in cost and quality within the national program.
HealthPartners has a longstanding history of providing both health care and coverage in western Wisconsin. “We are excited to partner with Bellin and ThedaCare and expand health plan choices for Wisconsin employers,” said Andrea Walsh, president and CEO, HealthPartners.
“By working together, we can advance the quality and affordability of care, and most importantly, improve health with friends, families and the community.”
HealthPartners is known for member satisfaction and quality results. The organization is the top-rated private commercial health plan in Minnesota. It is also one of the highest-rated health plans in the nation, according to the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)*.
