New Names for Appleton and Neenah Medical Centers Effective This Fall

ThedaCare today announced Appleton Medical Center will become ThedaCare Regional Medical Center- Appleton and Theda Clark Medical Center will become ThedaCare Regional Medical Center- Neenah.  ThedaCare is initiating an organization-wide rebranding effort so all of its locations throughout Wisconsin are identified with the same look and feel and name.

“We’re adjusting our name because we have been one organization, speaking with one voice and providing a common experience for the people we serve,” said Brian Burmeister, senior vice president.  “Many people don’t realize that Appleton Medical Center is part of ThedaCare, and has been for several decades, because the words ‘Theda’ or ‘ThedaCare’ were not a part of the name. This renaming will create more clarity and reduce confusion for our patients and employees. And universally incorporating our namesake, Theda Clark, acknowledges our rich history and reflects our century-long commitment to delivering services with passion, compassion and empathy.”

The Board of Directors of ThedaCare approved the change earlier this year. ThedaCare leaders unveiled the organization’s new brand identity last fall to reinforce that all of its hospitals and clinics are part of a vast network of regional ThedaCare resources and expertise, including being Wisconsin’s first member in the Mayo Clinic Care Network.

New London’s hospital kicked off the branding effort with a change to ThedaCare Medical Center-New London late last year. Waupaca’s facility just changed in August to ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca. In September the new ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano will open. In the fall or early winter, Berlin Memorial Hospital and Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital will change names.

For more than 100 years, ThedaCare™ has been committed to finding a better way to deliver serious and complex healthcare to patients throughout Northeast Wisconsin. The organization serves over 200,000 patients annually and employs more than 6,800 healthcare professionals throughout the region. ThedaCare has seven hospitals located in Appleton, Neenah, Berlin, Waupaca, Shawano, New London and Wild Rose as well as 35 clinics in 14 counties. ThedaCare is the first in Wisconsin to be a Mayo Clinic Care Network Member, giving our specialists the ability to consult with Mayo Clinic experts on a patient’s care. ThedaCare is a non-profit healthcare organization with a level II trauma center, comprehensive cancer treatment, stroke and cardiac programs as well as a foundation dedicated to community service.  Construction of ThedaCare Regional Cancer Center in Appleton and ThedaCare Medical Center – Shawano is underway.
