George Negrete, MD, Feels it is a ‘Privilege’ to Care for Waupaca Patients
Patients who visit George Negrete, MD, a general surgery physician at ThedaCare Physicians-Waupaca will be warmly greeted like a member of his family. “I feel it is a privilege to take care of patients,” he said, noting that he treats patients as how he would want his family treated. “I will pay attention to detail. It is important you make sure you are doing everything you can for the patient.”
Dr. Negrete specializes in minimally invasive surgical interventions. “You try to perform the surgical interventions minimally to decrease the chance of infection, decrease pain involved with the surgery, and help you get back to your daily life faster,” he said.
Dr. Negrete worked in Appleton before coming to Waupaca. “I was looking for a place where I could grow my practice a little more,” said Dr. Negrete.
Waupaca was a perfect fit. “I loved the area and, of course, the people here,” he said.
He also likes the Waupaca clinic. “I think it’s more accessible to patients,” he said. “It seems like it’s a little more one-on-one here than at larger locations. More specialized care, personalized care. You’re getting the same level of care as you are getting at a university or larger hospital.”
He also enjoys the staff. “I am very excited to work with an established and highly skilled surgeon such as Dr. Gary Edelman,” said Dr. Negrete. “I look forward to working with Dr. Edelman and contributing to the excellent care already established at Riverside Medical Center.”
Dr. Negrete feels it is important to treat patients like family because he has been on both ends of patient care. “I’ve not only been a doctor but I’ve also been the family member who is talking to the doctor,” he said. “I know how important it is to have trust and faith in the physician. You want to feel that you are being well taken care of and you are important.”
It’s not uncommon for him to check on patients when he has a break in his schedule. “It helps,” said Dr. Negrete, noting patients have a sense of comfort and can focus on getting healthy. “It makes patients feel like they are well taken care of. “
