Medical Center Celebrates 10 Years

For the past 10 years, New London residents have benefitted from having ThedaCare Physicians-New London and New London Family Medical Center services on one campus.

For the past 10 years, New London residents have benefitted from having ThedaCare Physicians-New London and New London Family Medical Center services on one campus.

“The idea was to create a medical campus to get most, if not all, of your medical needs met,” said Bill Schmidt, president and CEO, NLFMC.

Joe Lamb, MD, joined ThedaCare Physicians-New London when it had an office on the other side of town. As needs grew, and doctors joined on, space quickly became tight. They welcomed the plans for a new medical center at NLFMC, which provided convenient, quality services to doctors, staff and patients. Dr. Lamb likes that he can see his primary care patients in the clinic and easily go up a flight of stairs to follow up with his patients in the hospital.

“We’re really dedicated to providing quality care in the community,” said Dr. Lamb.

Over the years, there have been some more changes, such as a redesigned area to help patient flow and more space for surgical services. Also, ThedaCare Orthopedics Pus opened on campus and recently that area was renovated.

“The clinic is a wonderful clinic,” said Dr. Lamb. “The facility itself is top notch. It was redesigned a couple years ago. We’ve developed it in a way that provides the best flow for patients and the best atmosphere.”

ThedaCare plans to bring a new MRI Unit to be installed by October. The unit will come from Shawano Medical Center. “It will give our patients much better access to that service when it’s needed,” said Schmidt.

Schmidt said ThedaCare continues to evaluate the need for services in New London, which could include more specialists expanding their coverage to the area. “That’s going to mean better access to the care that’s needed locally,” he said.
