JP is a physical therapist and orthopedic clinical specialist for ThedaCare Orthopedic Care. But his favorite job is teaching.
“I try to establish good relationships with my patients,” said JP. “Mutual trust is so important to help people do the work they need to do to get back to life. I am teaching them about the things they can personally do to return to better health.”
JP usually sees patients in Appleton, but one day a week, he spends an afternoon at a local employer, helping employees with their therapy needs. “We need to make it easier for people who may have a long-term health issue or an injury get the help they need to feel better, and do the things that are important to them,” continued JP. “With focus and attention to detail, we can get the problems fixed faster – and that’s good for everyone.”
JP has been providing physical therapy services for 18 years, and his past four years have been with ThedaCare. “I enjoy the variety of patients I see at ThedaCare,” said JP. “I usually see 8-15 patients each day. In addition to standard physical therapy services, we also provide video gait analysis, something that’s particularly important for runners and athletes to get a more thorough breakdown of their running mechanics.”
He said that ThedaCare has been excellent at providing resources to help patients achieve the best results. “ThedaCare has a great leadership structure that is open to new ideas and treatments. They value you as someone who has the patients’ best interests at heart. That means a lot to me.”
Something that means even more to him are his relationships with patients. “I worked in Neenah for a while and many of the patients I saw there followed me to Appleton,” concluded JP. “Relationships matter – and it’s so gratifying to know that they value my teachings.”
