BERLIN PHYSICIAN AWARDED HONORARY DEGREE

Dr. Cynthia Marie Fisher Recognized for Service, Education

BERLIN, Wis. – A family physician at ThedaCare Physicians-Berlin was recently awarded an honorary degree from the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).

Dr. Cynthia Marie Fisher, DO, achieved the degree of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, earning the honorary designation “FAAFP.” To qualify, physicians must have a minimum of six years of membership in AAFP and participate in public service programs beyond their medical practice. They must also conduct original research, complete a minimum of 150 hours of accredited continuing medical education and serve as a teacher in family medicine.

“Earning the Degree of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians has been a very rewarding accomplishment,” said Dr. Fisher. “I am very proud of this designation.”

Dr. Fisher and more than 250 family physicians were awarded the degree during the AAFP’s annual meeting in New Orleans in October. The AAFP represents nearly 131,400 family physicians, residents and medical students.

Fisher now is among more than 17,500 AAFP Fellows nationwide.
