Amber Enjoys Making a Positive Impact On Her Patients Lives

Nursing is all about touching lives, and lives touching yours along the way. When Amber was growing up, several family members were registered nurses and certified nursing assistants, and she saw how fulfilled they were in their careers. It didn’t take long for Amber to follow the same path and now she helps people when they need it most.

Nursing is all about touching lives, and lives touching yours along the way. When Amber was growing up, several family members were registered nurses and certified nursing assistants, and she saw how fulfilled they were in their careers. It didn’t take long for Amber to follow the same path and now she helps people when they need it most.

Amber works on the oncology inpatient floor at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton – and she loves her job. “My life is set in fast forward,” said Amber. “Our patients are often critically sick, but each person is there because they need help. Our patients’ safety is the number one concern. Some can’t swallow and need to be tube fed. Others need wound care or IV electrolytes. We are constantly assessing our patients’ needs. And sometimes that means helping with family dynamics as conditions change. Those conversations can be challenging.”

Through all the day-to-day activities, Amber tries to keep a positive mindset. “Each patient is on a unique journey and all of them touch my heart in special ways,” continued Amber. “I’m here to make things just a little better for them and their families. When things get sad, I try to remember to focus on the good.”

She especially enjoys her work at ThedaCare. “It’s an empowering place to be,” said Amber. “They allow me to excel by giving me the support I need to grow. There are so many opportunities for nurses here. I encourage anyone considering a nursing career to check out ThedaCare.”
