ThedaCare Hosting Electronic Recycling Event

ThedaCare will help area residents celebrate Earth Day by collecting unwanted computers, electronics, and appliances at a recycling event on Mon., April 20.

ThedaCare will help area residents celebrate Earth Day by collecting unwanted computers, electronics, and appliances at a recycling event on Mon., April 20.

Residents can bring their unwanted electronics from 7 a.m. to noon to the building at 411 Lincoln St. in Neenah, which is behind Theda Clark Medical CenterRecycleThatStuff.com is co-sponsoring the collection with ThedaCare.

Most electronic items will be collected at no charge including computer processing units, printers, speakers, scanners, LCD screens, fax machines, laptops, phones, vacuum cleaners, VCRs, DVD players, paper shredders, portable game systems, iPods, and most other household electronics. Other items collected for a small charge include monitors for $20, TVs ranging in cost from $20 to $60, mini-fridges and small AC units for $20, dehumidifiers for $20, microwaves for $15, hard drive destruction for $10, large copy machines for $15, and large appliances for $25. Refrigerators and freezers will not be accepted.

This is the second year that ThedaCare is hosting an electronic recycling event in conjunction with Earth Day, said Paul Linzmeyer, ThedaCare’s sustainability leader. He said the collection and proper recycling of electronic devices is important to the environment.

“Environmentally friendly activities like this, along with the organization’s other sustainability initiatives, fits well with ThedaCare’s mission to build healthy communities,” Linzmeyer said. “Earth Day is a time to celebrate the mental and physical nourishment our planet provides, but it’s also a time to reflect on our responsibility to treat it with the respect it deserves.”
