The STAR Initiative – closing the achievement gap for area kids
The STAR Initiative addresses the black/white achievement gap among Appleton and Menasha high school and middle school youth.
It was launched following a ThedaCare-led plunge on what it’s like being black living in the Fox Cities. Housed through the Boys & Girls Club of the Fox Cities, the STAR Initiative is a partnership of more than a dozen area organizations including higher education, school districts, United Way, the Community Foundation, law enforcement, non-profits and ThedaCare.
