Staying in the Game

I love playing football. Whatever it takes to stay on the field, I’m all for it. So when I felt something “pop” in my foot, I gutted it out and finished the game.

“I love playing football a lot, so it was worth putting in the time so I could get back out there.” – Jack Werch

I love playing football. Whatever it takes to stay on the field, I’m all for it. So when I felt something “pop” in my foot, I gutted it out and finished the game. But for the rest of the weekend, I could barely walk. After seeing our school trainer, we put together a rehabilitation plan that would let me keep playing while preventing the injury from getting worse. It was a lot of work with PT sessions before and after practice, but it helped me to keep playing. I did miss one game, and that was a bummer. But, if I didn’t deal with my injury and do the work in PT, I might have missed the rest of the season. And I couldn’t let down my team like that. Our trainer is really great. And ThedaCare being part of my school’s sports programs is a good thing, too.
