Lindsey knew nursing was her passion early in life. “I have always enjoyed working with people and helping them through difficult situations,” said Lindsey. “People are often very nervous when they’re heading into the operating room. It’s a big deal for them and can be stressful. I think it’s important that they have someone to answer their questions and it’s so rewarding to help them out.”
Lindsey is a circulating OR nurse in the outpatient surgery center at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton. Prior to taking on her current role in 2016, she worked on the neurology floor at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center- Neenah for eight years.
She enjoys the fast pace in the outpatient surgery center and appreciates her co-workers. “In the operating room, it’s like a family – everyone working together to help the patient,” continued Lindsey. “It makes you want to do well and not let anyone down. It’s such a great feeling knowing that together we made a difference in that person’s life.”
She wanted to work at ThedaCare because she heard the company had a good reputation in the community. “I would encourage anyone who’s thinking about joining the organization as an OR nurse to just do it,” she continued. “The teamwork is excellent, plus they have flexible hours that gives me time to be with my family. That’s important to me and I’m lucky that ThedaCare and the great people who work there understand that work/life balance is important. I like the hours, love the people and enjoy the work I do at ThedaCare.”
