Kims Story Happily Ever After

After being diagnosed with breast cancer, I did what many patients do: chemotherapy, followed by more chemotherapy, and then I got married.

“After being diagnosed with breast cancer, I did what many patients do: chemotherapy, followed by more chemotherapy, and then I got married.

I went through two forms of chemo. The first one was every two weeks for a total of eight weeks. The second time around, I had to go in every week for 12 weeks. In both cases, for whatever the reason, I never got terribly sick. So, we decided to keep our wedding date.

I had lost my hair, but I was hoping for a certain wedding-day look. So, I worked with my hairdresser of 30 years and the ThedaCare cosmetologist to find just the right wig. Our wedding guests told me if they didn’t know any better, they would have thought it was natural. My breast cancer was a serious ordeal. But, the way I see it, life goes on. And if I am up for it, I’m going to live it to the fullest.”

“I lost my hair, but so what? In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter.”
