RMC Fun Run Continues to Promote Healthy Families
Riverside Medical Center wants to welcome summer with its 27th Annual RMC Fun Run.
Dean Sondrol, physical therapist, RMC Physical Therapy, hopes the weather will cooperate for the Sat., May 4, fun family event, which promotes health and fitness ”to get people in the community active. It’s a good way to start your summer. People will start with the fun run and the rest of the summer they’ll keep on being active.”
Sondrol said the event usually draws around 300 people. So far, 150 people have registered through an online feature. “It will be interesting to see if people are ready to get active outside and do the Fun Run,” he said.
The event starts at the Old Riverside Elementary School in Waupaca. Two separate races will be held – a 1-mile walk/run, which starts at 9 a.m. and a 5K event beginning at 10 a.m.
Sondrol said RMC is committed to its patients and encouraging events that promote healthy lifestyles. “Anything you can do to get people to be active and get out and exercise and walk” is good for the community,” he said. “As a hospital, it’s good to be promoting something in that way. Prevention is key.”
Chip timing is available. There will be a team challenge as well as best costume contest for an individual and team costume. Awards will be given to the first three females and first three male participants in each category.
Gifts and prize drawings will be awarded for advance on-line registration only. Participants can also register the day of the race at Riverside School. Race day registration cut off time is 8:30 a.m. for the 1 mile and 9:30 for the 5K.
