The great philosopher Aristotle once said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

Meet Carolyn, a food service assistant for ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah. She’s been in the food service industry for five years and with ThedaCare for nearly a year – and excellence might just be her middle name.

“I love, love, love my job,” said Carolyn. “For brief moments every day, we have an opportunity to have a positive impact on other people’s lives. My philosophy is to make that interaction as positive as possible. This job is the best one I’ve ever had – I feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be.”

Prior to joining ThedaCare, Carolyn worked for two elementary schools in the Neenah area. “I was a lunch lady serving hundreds of children every day,” she said. “I loved working with the kids, but I needed something more.” She still works with 17 pre-school children most afternoons.

She’s proud to work at ThedaCare. “We all help each other out. They are some of the nicest people I know. That’s not always the case for people who work in foodservice. But at ThedaCare they’re professional, respectful and polite. What more could you want?”

Carolyn said her goal in life is to help others as much as she can. “Believe me, it comes back tenfold every time.”
