Two Local Figures Join Board of Trustees
The Wolf River Area Health Foundation welcomes two new members to its Board of Trustees. Kathleen Gwidt is the District Administrator for the School District of New London and Mike Morse is Vice President of Business Banking Manager for First State Bank in New London.
“We are thrilled to welcome both Mike and Kathleen to the Foundation Board of Trustees,” said Heather Stern, executive director. “Both individuals are focused on giving back to their community and being ambassadors for the great work of the foundation and the hospital campus. We are excited to connect their passion and enthusiasm to the enhancement of healthcare in our community.”
Gwidt and Morse are excited to join the board, which helps support ThedaCare Medical Center-New London and the communities it serves. “I am hopeful that service to the Foundation will assist efforts to strengthen community resources,” said Gwidt. “I believe that a strong community helps to ensure strength in our schools and that strong schools helps to ensure strength in our community.”
Morse agreed. “I believe in and support localized healthcare in a sustainable, economical and practical model,” he said. “Having the Thedacare hospital and clinic resources ‘around the corner’ adds to the quality of life and viability of our communities, not to mention that we have potential lifesaving resources in closer proximity.”
Gwidt moved to New London in 1985 to assist in the start-up of a family business and began working as a teacher in the School District of New London in the early 1990’s. She served as an administrator in the Westfield School District prior to returning to New London where she served as principal, director of teaching of learning, and now district administrator. She serves on the ThedaCare Workplace Wellness Committee; New London Chamber of Commerce: Ambassador and Networking; and School District of New London Board/Community Committees. She and her husband “love to spend time with our grandson, Wyatt, and look forward to the addition of a second grandchild in July.”
Morse is responsible for the business banking functions, including products, services, sales and staff. He has served 18 years in a commercial/business banking environment. He serves on the Rotary Club of New London and Clintonville Revolving Loan Fund; is a coach for Wolf River League Youth Baseball and Clintonville Youth Football; and participated in the Leadership Fox Cities in 2012 to 2013. His hobbies include coaching youth sports, golf, many types of recreational fishing and he is a licensed Wisconsin fishing guide, with a specialty in muskies.
The Wolf River Area Healthcare Foundation was founded in 2003. Its mission is to seek and secure financial resources that ensure ThedaCare Medical Center-New London Campus has state-of-the-art facilities, equipment, education and outreach. ThedaCare Medical Center-New London Campus and The Wolf River Area Healthcare Foundation serve Waupaca, Outagamie and surrounding counties.
ThedaCare Medical Center-New London is a 25-bed, critical access hospital serving New London and nearby communities in Outagamie and Waupaca counties. The hospital, which has been in operation since 1930 and is part of ThedaCare, provides inpatient and outpatient surgery; a 24-hour emergency department; physical, occupational and speech therapies; diagnostic services including laboratory and imaging; pain management; transitional care; and a ThedaCare At Home retail store. ThedaCare Physicians-New London shares the campus of ThedaCare Medical Center-New London.
