Systems Benefit as part of ThedaCare

As part of ThedaCare, Community Health Network Inc. (CHN), and Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital now have access to Mayo Clinic resources through the Mayo Clinic Care Network. In 2014, CHN and Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital joined ThedaCare, which was the first health care system in Wisconsin to become a part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.

The network is a national network of organizations committed to better serving patients and their families through collaboration. Members connect with Mayo knowledge and expertise to enhance locally provided care and give their patients additional peace of mind.

“Our collaboration with Mayo Clinic is a high honor for our physicians and staff,” said John Feeney, CEO and President of CHN, which includes Berlin Memorial Hospital and several clinics. “This will give our providers and patients additional resources here in the community and help patients avoid unnecessary travel. We are excited to provide this added level of expertise for our patients and our community.”

“Through the Mayo Clinic Care Network, Mayo Clinic is able to develop broader and stronger relationships with culturally like-minded organizations like ThedaCare,” said David Hayes, M.D., medical director, Mayo Clinic Care Network. “By working together and sharing our expertise, more people in more places can benefit from the specialty knowledge and expertise that are hallmarks of Mayo Clinic. We welcome the care givers of CHN and Wild Rose to this collaborative network.”

“Through the network, our physicians will have the opportunity to consult Mayo Clinic and access Mayo’s extensive library of patient education materials,” said Dawn Shuman, CEO of Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital. “It will be a wonderful new resource for our physicians and staff, and a great benefit to our patients.”

Network tools and services include:

  • eConsults to allow ThedaCare specialists to connect electronically with Mayo specialists and subspecialists when they want additional input regarding a patient's care. In 2014, 76 ThedaCare doctors submitted 205 eConsults to Mayo. More than 90 percent of those patients were offered continued treatment locally.
  • AskMayoExpert to provide ThedaCare with point-of-care medical information compiled by Mayo physicians on disease management, care guidelines, treatment recommendations, and reference materials for a wide variety of medical conditions.
