Dean and Ann Einspahr moved to The Heritage because it was getting difficult for them to maintain their home. In addition, their two children live in California and Florida and were not available to help.

The Einspahrs, originally from Northwest Iowa, moved to Wisconsin in 1955 for Dean’s job as a forest geneticist at the Institute of Paper Chemistry. Ann was a school teacher for 39 years, a reading specialist for grades 1-6 in Appleton. They have been married for 71 years.

Friends recommended The Heritage, which is owned by ThedaCare. They also thought the continuum of care in one building was attractive. The Heritage offers independent living, independent with support services, assisted living and CBRF. It is connected to Peabody Manor, which has rehab, long term care and hospice services.

Dean and Ann moved to The Heritage in 2011. “We like the cleanliness, great nursing care, nutritional food and the variety of activities offered. The grounds are well taken care of and the setting is very beautiful. We also like that there is a salon here and that our church comes here for services.”

“I like that when Ann broke her hip and needed rehab services, she was still in the same building as me, so I could visit her anytime without having to leave the building,” Dean added. “If there is a problem, you can solve it right here.”

Dean and Ann keep busy watching sports, going for walks outside, playing Bridge and coming to The Heritage musical events. “The best part of being here is that you can choose to stay in your apartment or you can take advantage of all, or some, of the activities they have to offer,” Ann said.

“I do not think that we could find a better place to live than The Heritage,” Dean added.
