Amanda brightens days for patients and herself too

In many ways, Amanda, patient services representative for ThedaCare Physicians-Oshkosh, is a concierge. She is the first person people see when they arrive and often the last person they see as they leave. And she loves every minute of her day.

“I love working with our patients,” says Amanda. “It’s my job to give everyone a warm welcome when they arrive, help them get to the right place, and to keep an eye on them to make sure they have what they need while in the waiting room.”

Before joining ThedaCare nearly two years ago, Amanda held several scheduling jobs with home health and medical home organizations, but they didn’t compare to her experience working with ThedaCare. “We’re a family,” continued Amanda. “We work well as a team. There is a lot of cross training, so we can step in and help each other, if needed. Plus, ThedaCare really respects us and makes sure we know how much they appreciate all we do to help our patients.”

Amanda also enjoys developing personal relationships with patients, especially those individuals and families who come in frequently. “Getting to know the patients is my favorite part of the job. Wanda who comes in every month and every time I see her name on the list, it puts a smile on my face. She always waits until I can help her so we can catch up. She doesn’t have many people to have conversations with, so she enjoys sharing what’s going on in her life with me. She brightens my day – and I think she’d tell you the same about her time with me.”
