Crispy Roasted Green Beans

Having difficulties getting your kids to eat vegetables? This tasty green bean recipe may remind your kids of French fries. It’s finger-friendly, so even little ones can eat them without making a mess. Kids can also get in on the fun of making the dish. Toddlers can mix ingredients with their hands in the mixing bowl and lay out ingredients on the baking sheet. Preschool-aged kids can help with measuring the dry ingredients. School-aged kids can assist with weighing, washing and trimming the green beans. And people of all ages will enjoy the final result!

  • 1 pound long, thin green beans
  • 3 tablespoons olive or canola oil
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup panko bread crumbs — any variety


  1. Preheat oven to 425 F.
  2. Rinse and trim green beans.
  3. Place beans into a mixing bowl, and pour the remaining ingredients on top of the green beans.
  4. Using clean hands or tongs, toss the ingredients together until well coated.
  5. Spread out on in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet.
  6. Roast for 25-30 minutes until green beans are a little crispy around the edges.
