ThedaCare is thrilled to introduce our newest providers and learn what inspires them to improve the health and well-being of our patients and empower them to live their unique, best lives.

Erin Eferem, MD

Emergency Medicine, ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin

“I enjoy working with our team of doctors, nurses and support staff in the emergency department. We are all uniquely qualified to assess and treat patients during a critical time in their lives. Working quickly to take care of patients as efficiently, safely and comfortably as possible is an important part of my job. I’m trained to manage a variety of patients from all walks of life with various illnesses and conditions.”

Nathan Larsen, MD

Emergency Medicine, ThedaCare Physicians-Waupaca

“Emergency Medicine is one of the most challenging fields in medicine, but also one of the most rewarding. Each day is different and has its own set of unique challenges. I enjoy being able to treat patients of all ages and types of illnesses. My primary goal in patient care is to rule out life-threatening illnesses and injuries, relieve pain and suffering, and provide them with reassurance.”

Sarah Motacek, LCSW

“Having the opportunity to partner with patients in their mental health journey is very rewarding to me. Together, we discover solutions and different ways to improve their quality of life and achieve the goals they set for themselves. I use cognitive behavioral strategies and dialectical behavioral therapy-based skills to address a variety of mental health areas, including anxiety, depression and substance use.”

Andrew Pfaffenbach, MD

Internal Medicine, ThedaCare Physician Internal Medicine-Appleton and ThedaCare Physicians Internal Medicine-Neenah

“Providing empathetic, compassionate and individualized care is my approach to improved patient outcomes. I’m an understanding listener who includes my patients during the decision-making process so that we can create a plan of care together as a team. I chose internal medicine because I really enjoy working with adult patients who have complex medical situations, and I value building long-term relationships with them.”

Suzanne Havican, MD

Family Medicine, ThedaCare Physicians-New London

“As a family physician, I listen to my patients, give them hope and help them become active participants in their health care. My goal is to see my patients improve with every visit so they can enjoy an active and healthy life.”
