Kim Barnas Named Senior Vice President of Appleton Medical Center Theda Clark

ThedaCare has promoted Kim Barnas to senior vice president, Appleton Medical Center and Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.

Barnas joined ThedaCare in 1994 as vice president of development. In 2003, she was named vice president of hospital operations and was promoted to system vice president of oncology and spine services in 2010. Before joining ThedaCare, Barnas worked for Battle Creek Health System in Battle Creek, Mich.

Barnas has a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee and has a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.

“Throughout her career, Kim has always focused on patients and what can be done to improve their care,” said Dean Gruner, MD, president and CEO of ThedaCare. “She has consistently proven she has the skills to effectively lead physicians and staff through continuous improvements that lead to improved patient care.”

Barnas takes over the leadership of the Fox Cities hospitals from Kathryn Correia, who left ThedaCare to serve as CEO of HealthEast Care System in St. Paul, Minn.

Appleton Medical Center is a 160-bed acute care hospital that opened in 1958. In addition to general medical and surgical care, services include the Appleton Heart Institute, a fully staffed emergency department, pediatrics, birthing services, a comprehensive cancer center, and ThedaCare Orthopedic Care, which integrates orthopedics, sports medicine, outpatient rehabilitation and other services. Appleton Medical Center is an accredited Chest Pain Center by the national Society of Chest Pain Centers.

Theda Clark is a 166-bed acute care hospital founded in 1909. In addition to general medical and surgical care, specialized services include a birth center, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin – Fox Valley, the region’s only American College of Surgeons Verified Level II Trauma Center, and ThedaStar Air Medical Helicopter. Recognized centers of care include the Theda Clark Stroke Center, the Bariatric Program at Theda Clark, and the Aylward Outpatient Surgery Center.
